My dog is afraid of thunderstorms, her whole body shakes and her eyes become the size of small plates, she pants until her breath stinks.
One day I was at work and my daughter was home from school, I saw the thunderstorm coming and asked her to watch Sally (my black and white lhasa Apso cross Shitzu). As she has a doggy door and free run of the house when a storm would come and no one was home she would run in and out of the door trying to dig her way out to freedom, you can imagine the mess I would come home to all over the house.
My daughter was relatively young and this was a bad storm, she got a better offer to play with her friends, so she left Sally to fend for herself, that is when it happened she dug her way out and escaped onto a major road. She had never left the court on her own before so I assumed that she was trying to find my daughter, so she could feel safe.
A lady found her roaming the major road, and at each turn she was almost getting run over as she was running on fear. The lady figured she had to do something or my dog would die, she stopped her car opened the door and thank goodness Sally loves going for drives she just jumped in.
The lady owned a big dog of her own she did not want to take Sally home in case he was a bit rough with her. She decided to take her to a friends house as I had not put her collars on from when I had bathed her. Her friend lived about an hour away, she was such a wonderful person for making that trip for my dog. Thank goodness she had heard of micro chipping because when she got to Beaconsfield she went to the local vet just to see if she had a chip so she could find the owner.
I had had her micro chipped, and I did get my dog back and I was so happy as I just loved my dog to pieces. All this happened while I was at work, so when I got the phone call I didn't even know that my dog was lost, I was lucky I was saved the trouble of crying over my lost dog. I encourage all pet owners to micro chip, Sally was being found and I didn't even know that she was lost.
I AM SO GLAD THAT I HAD HER MICRO CHIPPED.
Thank you so much,
Marylouise
